Food With Friends

Have you ever wondered what to make when you go to a small gathering?  Food With Friends is a cookbook designed for The Art of Simple Gatherings!

Leela Cyd shares her style of cooking in the new cookbook Food With Friends.  In the first few pages you are introduced to her idea of a well set table, her secret ingredients, and shares about her family traditions revolving around food.

In the introduction I love how she explains that no matter what her family had planned they stopped and had family meals together.  She realized the impact this had on her life later and has now grown up and become a great cook.  She loves feeding her family and friends.

My Thoughts about Food With Friends

The Food With Friends cookbook is excellent for breakfast, lunch and dinner gatherings.  You get recipes such as “Bananas on Fire”, “Apple Fritters and Cinnamon Yogurt Cream” and “Pistachio Rose Clouds”.  I think my favorite recipes in this book are the “Blooming Flower Salads”!  You can eat the flowers.  Really!

I love how colorful this cookbook is.  Each recipe gives thorough instructions on how to create these delicious wonders.  When I thumbed through for the first time I was so excited!  I kept telling everyone around me “Look at this pretty book!”  and “Isn’t this book so pretty?”  I know you aren’t supposed to judge a book by its cover, but sometimes it helps when the pictures pop out at you.

I am not one that really enjoys cooking, but these recipes are easy enough for me!  It is easy to read the ingredients list so that I could quickly write them down and take them to the store.  The only thing I can think of as a downer is that you really had to search for some of these ingredients. It is well worth the search though.

This book focuses on the art of small gatherings and the recipe serving sizes range from 2-8 servings.  It is perfect for my little family at home although there aren’t many left overs.  It is important to double or triple the recipe if you are having more people over or if you have a larger family to feed.

I love the diversity of foods in this book.  From breakfast and brunch to deserts and tiny takeaways you can plan days of meals out of this book!  Food With Friends is definitely going on my cookbook shelf to use over and over again!

iPhone 5 Case Review

iPhone 5

I decided to try this product and I am giving my honest opinion. If you are looking for a case for your iPhone 5 you may want to check out his review!

iPhone 5

When I received this case in the mail I have to admit I was a little excited. Once opening it however my excitement shortly came to a halt as I saw what was in the packaging.

My Thoughts About the iPhone 5 Case

This iPhone 5 case is hard plastic.  That is one thing that I knew right away wasn’t going to be a good thing.  It comes with two screen protectors, which I was excited about at first.  One is for the front, one for the back and if any of you have every had an iPhone you understand how important it is to have a good enough protector for the front and back.  Although this iPhone 5 case has a screen protector for the front and back it has adhesive attachment which means you wouldn’t be able to take it off and clean it very easily and it may leave your phone all sticky, especially if you have extreme weather conditions.  Putting the case together wasn’t easy either.  The bottom part clips onto the top with two very small attachments and it is hard to lock in.  It takes several minutes just to put the case together.

Honestly I would be very afraid to drop my phone with this case on it.  I would be afraid the case and the phone would break.  The case would easily snap off because it isn’t held together very well and the screen protectors may help with small scratches but not a drop or fall.  This case only covers the outer edges but still leaves a lot of the glass exposed.

If you are looking for a case this may do in a pinch but I wouldn’t pay $8 for it.  You can get a rubber case at the dollar store that will cover the edges of your phone so that is a better alternative than paying $8 for a case that might snap off anyway.

The quality of this product really disappointed me.
